Have you ever heard the saying “Nothing in life is free?” This statement is true when it comes to the things of this world. We need resources to pay for basic life necessities, nothing is for free in this world. However God planned things completely different for us when it came to His free gift of salvation through His Son.
Imagine giving up your only Son willingly, so that He can die for the sake of others! This is how it was for our Father in Heaven. He loved us, so much that He was willing to risk it all, by scarificing His Son on the cross for you and I. He knew the pain His Son would endure, but because of His great love for humanity He did it anyway. He offered salvation for free and yet it came at a great cost to Him, nothing could have been more costly to Him than this.
Jesus came down to earth and took the form of a servant knowing that He would be hung on the cross for our sins. He knew the price He would pay for us, but was willing to go through it because of the love He has for us.
He died along side a murderer and thief but willingly carried the cross for us, He was whipped, beaten, bruised and nailed on the cross of calvary for our sake. Have you ever thought about how the Father must have felt at that moment when His only Son was suffering and dying for our sake? And yet He said they are all worth it, if it means getting them saved eternally.
Jesus paid a high price for us, even though we were all sinners. He knew what was on the other side of the cross. None of us earned His gift of salvation, we received it freely. May we always remember what it cost Him, for us to receive that gift. And what it cost our Father to give us that gift. Oh what a good and loving Father He is to bless us with such a precious gift through His Son. Today may we stop to remember and appreciate what Jesus did on the cross for us, for it came at a great price to Him.
If you don’t know Jesus as your Lord and saviour and would love to receive His free gift of salvation which will reconcile you to God. Please say a quick prayer and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and accept Him into your heart to be your Lord and saviour. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, He’s able to forgive anything and accept you into His Kingdom as His son or daughter. He loves you so much that He was willing to die for you.
But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
